Our Abs to Max Challenge was a great success. Hundreds of ambitious and committed athletes gave their all in 21 hard and challenging training days to achieve the best results and proudly show off their defined or new gained sixpack afterwards. One of them was Éric, who amazed us with his breathtaking results in such a manner, that we had no choice but to elect him as the winner of our before/after-contest.
Éric (40) lives in France, near to Toulouse, and was always a sportive guy. From early childhood on he practiced Football, Rugby, Tennis and more. But even if training was a natural part of his life, he never had a sixpack before. Then he heard about Goliaz and everything changed. But read more…
Éric, how did you get to know about the Abs to Max Challenge?
I learned about the the Abs to Max Challenge because my girlfriend Claire Bretigny attended the Challenge of January and was very happy with it. So I started with her in March.
Were you immediately convinced to take part? What drove you to this decision?
Yes, I was completely convinced, because I already practiced Freeletics and other sports. The decision was an easy one, because the concept of Goliaz is really excellent and above all personalized.
Did you expect to get those results?
Not at all. I never dreamed of this result. We can really see that food plays an essential role here.
What was your starting weight?
I started with 74kg and went down to 71,2kg. And I still lose weight… This is the first time in my life that I have a sixpack! Even younger I never had one.
You decided to take part in the contest. Was that an additional incentive for you to persevere?
Yes, it was an extra motivation. But I would have done it anyway, even if the result would have been different. I wanted to lay the first building block. Something like this isn’t easy and everyone knows it.
Did you do additional training next to the challenge?
I included 15kms of running per week.
How hard was it for you to stick to your nutrition plans? Did you have any insider tips to keep to them?
Usually I eat what I want and when I want and I never paid attention on my nutrition because I am a sportive guy. When Eduardo set the rules at the beginning it seemed to be too hard but in the end I stayed on target and succeeded. I think it was the hardest part of the challenge and my girlfriend did not say otherwise.
When did you realize that the challenge worked for you? How did you feel at that moment?
Honestly, I ‘ve discovered the results very late. My girlfriend told me that I became thin… When I looked in the mirror, I could see no difference to how it was in the beginning. But I saw the result on the scale… I think the first time I realized the difference was in the 3rd week.
Did you have any moment where you thought about giving up?
Not at any time, because when I start something, I try to finish it, no matter what. I have a very strong mind.
Which workout was the most difficult for you? Which one did you like most?
The most difficult workout was Rukh. The one I liked most was “Think Faster”. Physically it was quite simple, but it was not easy to associate the concentration.
How did you feel when you completed the last workout?
Very happy! I was satisfied to have successfully completed this Challenge and almost disappointed that it was over. This last Workout was terrible, very demanding.
And then you took the after-picture of yourself… What were your thoughts when you saw this enormous difference?
I thought that hard work pays off and that the right nutrition is very important. I saw this enormous difference only when I placed the before/after-pictures next to each other.
You won the contest. Everybody saw your picture and your example inspires hundreds of athletes. How does it feel? How do their reactions influence your attitude towards sports and your motivation in future?
I really did not expect to win and I was really surprised when the result fell. There were so many other athletes with great transformations. I don’t know if I am a role model, but it shows that anything is possible when we get the tools and especially when we have a guideline. My motivation is even stronger and I hope that many other athletes will reach their goals . If I reached mine, then everything is possible.
Would you recommend the Challenges?
Yes of course! But it’s a matter of will, mental strength and perseverance.
Some words you want to address to other/future Goliaz Athletes?
Engage in the challenges , work in your own rythm (except workouts with Pacer, of course… ) and above all: have fun and enjoy it! Don’t compare your time with the others because everyone has a different level. The only thing we really have in common is the love for sport, even though some people think we’re crazy.
